11 #KwentongBABAYEnihan in Brgy. Saniag, Ampatuan, Maguindanao

· KwentongBABAYEnihan

BABAYEnihan against COVID-19 has reached Brgy. Saniag, Ampatuan, Maguindanao!

It was difficult to even communicate with the Teduray indigenous women leaders in Brgy. Saniag, and coordinate relief work with them. The phone signal is poor in that community. Finally, when communication was made. and the women were ready to receive the little help from BABAYEnihan, the challenge was how to bring in the hygiene kits to the community. Brgy. Saniag is a conflict area. For the past months, indigenous communities in sitios within that Brgy. have been terrorized by Moro armed groups, driving them away from their homes. For months now, 387 Teduray families are "bakwits" or evacuees in their own ancestral domain.

But with the persistence of the indigenous women, led by Fintaylan Josephine, BABAYEnihan reached them. With the modest amount, hygiene kits were distributed to indigenous single mothers.

Inged Fintaylan and LILAK thank you for your continuing support and solidarity. We feel the love!

We will continue to share with you stories and photos when available of how your support has reached our indigenous women partners and families.
