· KwentongBABAYEnihan

BABAYEnihan against COVID-19 has reached Brgy. Lublub, Valderrama, Antique

To reach Brgy. Lublub, one has to cross a wide river, either by foot, or by habal-habal, or by a raft, depending on what the river would allow. From the town proper, more hours on habal-habal, up and down, following the contours of the mountain. When super typhoon Yolanda hit them, communication with the Iraynon Bukidnon women was almost impossible.  Given the distance from the government, relief was not reaching their community, until the Iraynon Bukidnon women community leaders sought help, and initiated dialogues with the local government unit.

Now, with the COVID19 lockdown, relief to the farmers and informal workers was finding its way to the barangay ever so slowly. And again, it is the Iraynon Bukidnon women taking the lead in extending support and solidarity within their communities. The spirit of BABAYEnihan!

Thank you for the support and solidarity. We feel the love.

We will share with you stories and photos when available of how your support has reached our indigenous women partners and their families.
