We resist, to build a future that is feminist.

International Women Human Rights Defenders Day Statement

· Statements and Press Releases

Today, we celebrate all the women of the world for their continued courage, persistence, and resistance against all forms of violence.

Women experience violence every day. Violence against women and girls goes beyond what is seen and visible. These are often masked inside our homes, in the streets, in our workplace, in decision-making processes, and in policies.

For rural and indigenous women, the entry of destructive mining, plantations, mega dam projects, and resource extraction in the guise of so-called solutions to the climate crises have a great impact on their livelihood, their ancestral lands, their right to practice their cultural rights, and over their bodies. It displaces them from their land, separates them from their families and communities, and can take a toll on their overall wellbeing. Indigenous women also bear the brunt of the worsening impacts of climate change, rampant corruption, and are left in times of disasters.

Women and young girls are left to tend to themselves and their families - in wars, in conflicts, and under authoritarian and militaristic regimes.

And so, we continue to raise our voices and speak out against all forms of violence.

We are sending love, care, and hope to all our RESISTERS from all parts of the world.

Together, we continue to resist. And we resist to build a future that is feminist.
